With calving season coming to an end, total calf births registered in 2022 have now passed 2 million calves as of this week.
As can be seen from the below graph, there was some 2,012,245 calves registered as of June 17th 2022. This is up ever so slightly by 3,987 when compared with the same date in 2021. When we look closer we can see that Beef births are actually on the decline with over 21,000 fewer calves registered up to June 17th this year when compared with the same period last year.
Dairy births are a different story with over 25,000 more dairy calves registered up to June 17th when compared with the same period in 2021. Pedigree registrations are ever so slightly up by 330 when compared to the same period year over year.
