‘Future Proofing’ the EBI

The ‘Next Generation Herd’ was established to validate that genetic selection using the EBI will increase productivity and profitability under intensive grass based systems. At the Teagasc Moorepark Open Day in 2021, the research showed clear evidence that high EBI cows were delivering more milk solids per cow, better female fertility & lower carbon footprint, compared to the national average.

Importance of recording Inseminations

Insemination data is significant for the purpose of genetic evaluations for fertility & gestation lengths. This includes whether the cow repeats or holds to that service.
September 2022 Evaluation Deadline- Deadline for all genotypes samples is 29th June

The September 2022 Evaluation will be published on 4th October. The final date to have any DNA samples (hair/tissue/AI straws returned to ICBF to have genomic evaluation published for this evaluation is 29th June.
