Table 1 (Serves 01/01/2021 – 30/06/2021)

From Table 1 above, the most highly used ‘dairy on dairy’ sire in the first half of this year is FR4547 (IG) Doonmanagh Seville. ‘Seville’ has 32,280 AI handheld serves recorded in the first half of this year. This does not take into account DIY serves so his actual usage will be higher in reality. Second on the list is FR5803 (IG) Highmount Stark. There have been 30,281 AI handheld serves recorded from ‘Stark’ in the first half of 2021. Third on the list is FR4513 (IG) Ballygown Albert. ‘Albert’ has 25,809 AI handheld serves recorded in the first half of 2021. All 10 of the ‘Top 10’ bulls are graduates of the ‘Dairy Gene Ireland’ program.

From Table 2 above, the most highly used ‘beef on dairy’ sire so far this year is AA4089 Intelagri Matteo E.T.(ET). ‘Matteo’ has 15,169 AI handheld serves recorded in the first half of this year in dairy herds. This does not take into account DIY serves so his actual usage will be higher in reality. He has a calving difficulty figure of 6.4% on dairy heifers. Second on the list is AA4088 Intelagri Maverick E.T. (ET). There have been 11,159 AI handheld serves recorded from ‘Maverick’ in dairy herds in the first half of 2021. He has a calving difficulty figure of 8.5% on dairy heifers. Third on the list is HE5346 Fisher 1 Profile P456. ‘Profile’ has 10,135 AI handheld serves recorded in dairy herds in the first half of 2021. He has a calving difficulty figure of 11.6% on dairy heifers.

From Table 3 above, the most highly used ‘beef on beef’ sire so far this year is Limousin sire LM4217 Moondharrig Knell. ‘Knell’ has 6,786 ‘beef on beef’ AI handheld serves recorded in the first half of this year. This does not take into account DIY serves so his actual usage will be higher in reality. Knell was progeny tested through Gene Ireland Beef. Second on the list is Limousin sire ZAG Castleview Gazelle. There have been 6,591 AI handheld serves recorded from ‘Gazelle’ in beef herds in the first half of 2021. Third on the list is CH4321 Lapon. ‘Lapon’ has 5,930 AI handheld serves recorded in beef herds in the first half of 2021. ZAG and CH4321 were also progeny tested through Beef Gene Ireland.
