This accessibility statement applies to ICBF’s digital services, including our web application, mobile application, and website content.

Our commitment to accessibility

ICBF is committed to making our digital services accessible to as many people as possible. We are actively working to improve the accessibility of our platforms and to remove barriers for users with disabilities. ICBF’s existing services are covered by transitional provisions under the EAA, with full compliance required by 28 June 2030.

Standards and testing

  • Standard: We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.
  • Testing approach: We use axe DevTools to test our pages, with “Best Practices” checks enabled, alongside manual checks as part of our development process. We also use the WebAIM Contrast Checker (webaim.org/resources/contrastchecker/) and Coolors (coolors.co/) to help check and choose colour combinations with adequate contrast.
  • Ongoing improvement: Accessibility is considered during design, development, and when updating existing content. We have also worked with external experts to help ensure our UI/UX design meets accessibility best practice.
  • Responsive components: We have recently upgraded our table library to improve usability and responsiveness on both desktop and mobile devices.

Compliance status

Partially compliant. We are not yet fully compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA. Most of our web application have been reviewed and updated, but we still need to address accessibility issues on our WordPress website.

ICBF is not currently claiming any disproportionate burden exemptions.

In scope

  • ICBF/HerdPlus web application (webapp.icbf.com): Largely compliant. Some older sections of the application still require work.
  • ICBF website (www.icbf.com): Largely compliant. Work required on individual UI elements on older pages and posts.
  • ICBF mobile application (iOS and Android): Largely compliant.

Known accessibility limitations

  • Some WordPress pages may have issues with headings, page structure, or inconsistent labels.
  • Some images or documents on the WordPress site may be missing suitable text alternatives.
  • Some colour contrast, focus visibility, or keyboard navigation issues may be present on older pages.
  • Remediation timeline: We are working to address known accessibility issues on our WordPress website. In line with the transitional provisions of the European Accessibility Act, we aim to have all known issues resolved by 28 June 2030.

If you are not satisfied with our response

If you contact us about an accessibility issue and are not satisfied with our response, you can escalate your complaint to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), which is the Irish enforcement body for the European Accessibility Act.

Legal and regulatory context

As a medium enterprise in the private sector, ICBF is working towards meeting applicable accessibility obligations under the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and relevant Irish legislation and guidance. Our accessibility work is based on WCAG 2.1 (Level AA) as the technical standard.
