The Top 200 herds for EBI have been revealed. The EBI figure of the top herd is now at €186 which is up €4 from the top figure from the January run.

The second publication of 2017 sees Kieran Hearne, Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Waterford remain in pole position. This is actually Kieran’s fourth consecutive time in the number 1 position. Kieran has an average herd EBI of €186 (€51 coming from the milk sub-index and €99 coming from the fertility sub-index).

Timothy Fitzgerald, Ballyroan, Portlaoise, Co. Laois remains in second position with an EBI of €180 (€40 coming from the milk sub-index and €101 coming from the fertility sub-index). David Fitzgerald, Curraglass, Mallow, Co. Cork remains at number three on the list with an EBI of €173 (€48 coming from the milk sub-index and €90 coming from the fertility sub-index).

Jim Delahunt, Carrig, Co. Tipperary has climbed three positions to fourth with an EBI of €173 (€36 coming from the milk sub-index and €99 coming from the fertility sub-index) while Denis O’Connell, Cullen, Co. Cork is in fifth position with an EBI of €171 (€59 coming from the milk sub-index and €73 coming from the fertility sub-index)

Owen Brodie, Virginia, Co. Cavan has recorded the biggest jump for this evaluation with his average EBI rising from €110 to €126, an average jump of €16. This puts Owen in 179th position on the list, a massive 132 places better than the previous evaluation.

There are now 26 herds with an EBI of €150 or more. This is an increase of 7 herds from the previous evaluation. This top 200 saw 14 herds make the list for the first time with 78 herds climbing up the ranks.

The average EBI of the Top 200 herds is €136 with €39 coming from the Milk Sub-Index and €60 from the Fertility Sub-Index.
