ICBF has recently launched an improved Commercial Euro-Star Catalogue for beef females. The catalogue is available for marts to generate for special sales and for farmers who want to generate a catalogue for selling animals directly off farm.
The catalogue will show all of the animals details such as tag, date of birth, breed, etc. The owners name and address will appear under each lot. Under the Euro-Star details, carcass weight, milk and calving interval (fertility) have been added. This allows a potential buyer to assess the traits that make up the overall Replacement Index value. In the fertility section, if serve details have been recorded for an animal, it will show the expected calving date as well as the sire that the animal is in calf to. Figure 1 shows the layout of the new catalogue.
A user guide has also been added. This will appear as the front page of every catalogue. It explains how to interpret the information in the catalogue (see Figure 2).
How do I generate a catalogue?
For marts, the catalogue can be generated through your ICBF account. Once logged in, click “Catalogue” at the top of the screen The animals tag numbers are added to the screen and the option for “Beef Commercial Catalogue” should be selected (see Figure 3).
Farmers can generate a catalogue through their HerdPlus accounts. Once logged in, go to the “Applications” dropdown at the top of the screen and select “Sales Catalogue”. This will take you to a screen with a listing of all animals in your herd. Select the animals which you want included in the catalogue and click “Continue” in the top right of the screen. The next screen is the same as figure 3 above. The selected animals will already be listed on the right. Select the catalogue type in the lower left and click “Generate Catalogue”. This will generate a PDF of your catalogue.
