AgNav, Ireland’s leading digital sustainability platform for farmers, has been recognised at the Better Public Service Awards, winning the category for‘Strategic Use of Data to Deliver Efficiency in Public Services’.
The award was announced by Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation, Jack Chambers TD, at a ceremony held in the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM) last week.
Developed through a collaborative partnership between the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM), Teagasc, Bord Bia and the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation (ICBF), AgNav provides Irish farmers and advisors with a practical digital tool to measure, monitor and improve farm sustainability. The platform brings together industry-leading data, research and advisory expertise to help farmers make informed decisions while contributing to national climate and sustainability targets.
The Better Public Service Awards celebrate excellence, innovation and collaboration across Ireland’s public service. Speaking at the event, Taoiseach Micheál Martin TD highlighted the importance of teamwork and shared purpose in delivering meaningful outcomes:
“Tonight’s nominees and winners represent the very best of civil service values and attributes. Looking over the various projects, it is evident to me that the willingness to support each other, share ideas and work together with a common purpose, has been central to success in delivering high quality public services.”
Recognising Innovation Through Agricultural Data
The award acknowledges the role AgNav plays in harnessing agricultural data and digital technology to support more sustainable farming practices. By combining data from multiple trusted sources, the platform helps farmers understand their farm’s environmental footprint, evaluate potential improvements and track progress over time.
AgNav is a key example of how collaboration between government agencies and industry organisations can deliver practical, farmer-focused solutions that support both farm profitability and environmental sustainability. The platform continues to play an important role in helping the Irish agriculture sector respond to climate challenges and demonstrate progress at farm level.
