ICBF and the programme partners, have recently launched the exciting new Gene Ireland panel of high replacement index beef bulls for Spring 2020. Building on the success of previous programmes, these bulls have been selected on their potential to deliver in two key areas. Firstly, to produce heifers which are fertile and will have an adequate level of milk and secondly, to produce a heifer that will deliver a calf with good beef attributes for traits such as good growth rate and conformation.
The key points from the programme include:
- Straws will be charged at €5/straw delivered to your usual technician.
- Breeds that are available on this year’s programme include Angus, Aubrac, Charolais, Hereford, Limousin, Parthenaise, Piedmontese, Shorthorn and Simmental. Additional breeds may be added to the programme during the year.
- The bulls will be chosen by the farmer and may be mixed breeds or single breed.
- It is not recommended to use G€N€ IR€LAND bulls on maiden heifers.
Further information on the bulls currently available and a copy of the Terms & Conditions, which must be signed to avail of the straws, are available below.
