To ensure herds are prepared for their 2026 calving season we would like to remind you of the following:
- Order your Calf Tags ASAP
To prepare for the upcoming calving season, we encourage you to order your 2026 Double Tissue Calf Tags from your preferred tag supplier now. Tag orders can take a number of weeks to be sent out to you so this will ensure you have your double tissue tags well in advance of the start of calving.
For new participants who joined NGP in 2025 you can use any remaining regular EID national tags you have but you will need to get a matching DNA button tag to take the dna sample while using up these regular national tags. You can order these from your tag supplier now also.
Is there anything else I can do to prepare for calving 2026?
We highly recommend downloading the HerdPlus App, it can be very useful during the calving season as it allows you to:
- Track your genotyping samples as they progress through the lab.
- Request replacement DNA button tags as needed.
- Stay on top of any calf registration needing your attention with the “Calf Action List”
The app works on Android and iOS devices (tablets and phones) and is free to download via the App store (iOS) or Play store (Android). You can find it by searching ‘ICBF HerdPlus’ in either app store. We will continue to add more features and improvements to the app over the coming months.
