A Suckler Cow Breeding Event will take place on Wednesday, 22nd April at 4pm on the Newford Suckler Demonstration Farm in Skrine, Co. Roscommon, focused on improving herd performance and reducing labour through smarter tools and management practices.

This practical, on-farm event will highlight key breeding tasks, including the genetics of the Newford cow and the terminal sires used, calving at 24 months, body condition scoring, nutrition planning, fertility management, and heat detection. Experts will demonstrate how technologies such as heat-detection aids, compact calving, and improved handling facilities can streamline daily tasks and save valuable time. Attendees will gain practical advice to boost conception rates, improve efficiency and make suckler farming more sustainable and labour-friendly ahead of the breeding season.
