The Stock Bull Finder is a free to use app that farmers can use to find their next stock bull. It is the only search engine for young stock bulls in Ireland where all the bulls have been independently weighed by ICBF at a minimum. Some breeders go a step further by voluntarily signing up to the Whole Herd Performance Program ( WHPR ) where a full linear scoring is carried out on the animals presented. This gives these bulls a WHPR stamp, which illustrates to the buyer that the breeder has gone over and beyond to verify the accuracy of their data.

Ben Ryall is a pedigree Angus breeder based in Watergrasshill Co. Cork. He is running an Autumn calving system, calving around 60 cows every year under the prefix ‘Fellfort’. The herd is 100% AI, using sires such as AA4089, AA4743, AA4235 and AA4818 to name a few.

Ben is happy with the way the Stock Bull Finder advertises his bulls to farmers. He gets plenty of calls from farmers about his bulls, most of which follow through with a sale. He sells predominately to the dairy herd, but he also sells bulls to pedigree and commercial beef herds.

He finds that prospective buyers who use the app “have their homework done” before making the call to him, which helps to speed up the buying process for both him and the farmer. This gives the farmer more time to conduct the visual inspection, with some of Ben’s repeat customers working off figures alone as they have confidence in the performance of his stock.
