ICBF has now received over 500,000 calf samples in the lab so far in 2026 — a significant milestone as the busy calving season continues at consistently high levels nationwide.
Last week’s figures
- 90,680 calf samples were received in the lab.
- 87,437 calf samples were processed in the lab.
- The average time from birth to the sample being received in the lab was 7.8 days.
- The average time a sample spent in the lab last week was 4.2 days.
- The average turnaround time from birth to passport being issued was 14.3 days.
With large weekly volumes continuing, we encourage farmers to post DNA and BVD samples regularly to help avoid potential postal backlogs. Please also note that postal delays may affect the delivery of animal passports, which is outside ICBF’s control.
Meanwhile, mart data shows strong consistency across systems:
To date in 2026, the average age difference between Non‑NGP and NGP calves sold through marts is just 0.6 days.
