The inaugural ICBF and Sheep Ireland genetics conference will take place on Wednesday and Thursday 5th and 6th December at the Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone, Co. Roscommon.

‘Sustainable Farming – Progress through Genetics’ is the theme chosen for the ICBF and Sheep Ireland Genetics Conference. This is a two-day event for the dairy, beef and sheep sectors, with a unique focus on animal breeding and genetics.

FBD Trust Euro-Star €200 Competition

FBD Trust, ICBF, Teagasc and the Irish Farmers Journal have come together to promote a new competition, aimed at rewarding excellence in beef breeding performance of pedigree and commercial suckler herds. The new competition is being promoted as the FBD Trust €uro-Star €200 competion, with a total prize fund of €40,000.

Speaking at the launch, Michael Doran, chair of ICBF, said that the competition sponsors will contact short-listed herds, inviting them to enter the competition, after which an on-farm judging process will take place. Regional and overall winners will be announced at the ICBF Genetics Conference, which will take place on 5th & 6th December, in the Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone.

Poster Theme

ICBF and Sheep Ireland are inviting submissions for poster presentation for the poster session themed “Current Research in Animal Genetics” which will be held during the inaugural ICBF and Sheep Ireland genetics conference December 5th and 6th at the Hodsan Bay Hotel Athlone. Research conducted in collaboration with ICBF and/or Sheep Ireland is a requirement.
