The Autumn 2017 Beef Gene Ireland panel of bulls are now available to order. Building on the success of previous programmes, these bulls have been selected on their potential to deliver in two key areas. Firstly, to produce heifers which are fertile and will have an adequate level of milk and secondly, to produce a heifer that will deliver a calf with good beef attributes for traits such as good growth rate and conformation.

Pictured here is a bull calf sired by Lisnacrann Fifty Cent (SI2469). The calf weighted 340 Kgs at 182 days being fed just milk and grass. Fifty Cent was available through the program in 2016 and now some of his first calves are hitting the ground this year. Thanks to Aidan Mescall for sending in these pictures. The Autumn Gene Ireland straws are available to order now for just €5 per straw. Click here for more details of the bulls currently available or contact ICBF on 023-8820452.
