Tuesday 16th July at 2pm will see a farm walk held on the farm of Niall O’Meara, Killimor, Co. Galway (Eircode H53 PX96). Niall was the inaugural winner of the FBD Euro-Star €200 competition. Niall’s herd excelled across a number of key performance metrics such as calving interval, calves/cow/year and herd Replacement Index to win the award.
The walk will cover a number of topics including:
- Stand 1: Niall’s farming system and physical performance of the herd. There will be a Q+A with Niall on this stand where he will be telling his story and he what he is trying to achieve with his farm.
- Stand 2: Selecting replacement females and calving them down at 2 yrs old. Live demo of animals.
- Stand 3: Successful use of AI in the suckler herd.
- Stand 4: Grassland and herd health.
There will be a trade stand area at the end of the walk which will have the following companies present:
