Beef Gene Ireland Focus (CH8571 – Recif)
Our next Charolais bull is CH8571 – Recif, a French bred bull from the herd of Thierry Frecon, France. A high terminal index (€136) bull with great carcass weight and docility. +35.9Kg for carcass weight, puts this bull in the top 2% for carcass weight across all breeds. He is 4 stars within breed and 5 stars across all breeds on the terminal index. An easy calving pedigree, this bull is 4.5% for cows, which is ideal to reduce time and stress at calving. (more…)
Beef Gene Ireland Focus CH8334 – Corbaun Rory
This Longford bred bull is from the Corbaun herd of Liam Keogh. A lovely long bull with fantastic muscling and great power. Sired by Blelack Digger from a Clyth Diplomat dam, this bull is in the top 1% across all breeds for carcass weight (44.2kg). (more…)
How to take a Hair Samples for the genotyping process?
When taking hair samples as part of the genotyping process, please take 40-60 root follicles from the tail end of the animal. The root follicles should also be clean and dry. This will prevent hair samples required to be retested again, which would also delay the turnaround time of genomic results. Gene Ireland Focus – Keltic Rembrandt (LM8259)
The last bull on our Replacement Index list is Keltic Rembrandt (LM8259). This bull comes from the Keltic Limousin herd in Meath, who many Limousin breeders would know bred Keltic Handsome (OKH). OKH made it through the Gene Ireland progeny testing in 2014 and went on to be a very successful bull in Irish pedigree and commercial suckler herds with over 13,000 progeny registered to him. Making Use of the ICBF Inbreeding Checker
The Inbreeding Checker is breeding application, that can be found under ‘Applications’ in the HerdPlus menu. As the name suggests, the Inbreeding checker allows herd owners to check up to 10 bulls at a time with their cows and heifers. (more…)
