HE2359 was progeny tested as part of the 2017 Gene Ireland Dairy Beef program. Dairy farmers in the program are very impressed with the progeny this spring.

HE2359 progeny on ABP R & D research farm in Co. Carlow.

The main function of the Gene Ireland Dairy Beef program is to ensure more accurate genetic evaluations for beef traits related to the dairy herd, most notably calving difficulty (%), gestation length and calf quality. ABP purchase a number of these calves for subsequent growth, carcass and meat eating quality analysis. Health & disease data is also collected on these purchased animals. A proportion of these calves also enter ICBF Tully performance test centre for feed efficiency analysis.
