Backround of the herd: The ‘Ballyedmond’ Simmental herd was established through the purchase of a pedigree heifer from Pat Lynch, Ladysbridge in 1983.

A female has to be able to go and breed herself. As obvious as that sounds, daughters out of AI Bull’s with high terminal indexes often have little milk themselves. This maternal breeding program will hopefully identify bloodlines that produce good quality cattle but which are also milky and fertile”.
