Following the release of the HerdPlus Beef Calving Statistics we have taken a closer look at some important Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).

The national average for calves per cow per year is 0.85. When we break this down county by county we can see some big difference in performance. County Monaghan is leading the way with an average calves per cow per year figure of 0.87. This is .04 better than the average calves per cow per year figure in County Leitrim of 0.83. There are 11 counties with a figure of 0.86 calves per cow per year while Laois, Westmeath, and Dublin have a figure of 0.84 calves per cow per year placing them just ahead of Leitrim at the bottom for calves per cow per year performance.
