Following the release of the HerdPlus Beef Calving Statistics we have taken a closer look at some important Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).

The national average for calving interval is 400 days. When we break this down county by county we can see some big difference in performance. County Waterford is leading the way with an average beef calving interval of 393.86 days. This is over 13 days better than the average beef calving interval in County Leitrim of 407.51 days. Carlow, Limerick, Wicklow and Wexford complete the top 5 counties for beef calving interval performance while Mayo, Westmeath, Donegal and Dublin join Leitrim in the bottom five counties for calving interval performance.
